The Beginning

Mr. Ticket and I met in a rather unusual way. In fact I will go so far as to make up a statistic here on the spot. I would say that 9,999 out of 10,000 couples would say they had NOT met in this way. They might even think you were joking if you asked. Alright I'll stop making up statistics and just tell you.

That's because Mr. Ticket and I met playing the MMORPG World of Warcraft. I was farming (repeatedly killing and looting) this particular creature to obtain a piece of loot that myself and a few friends wanted. I had heard that Mr. Ticket wanted one as well (he was in my guild so I thought I would be nice and offer to help him out). I messaged him one day to ask if he would like me to farm him one and we just kept talking after that. In fact we had known of each other through the game for over a year prior to us actually talking, he later confessed that he was under the impression that I didn't like him because whenever he entered a Vent channel I left (I would like to go on the record now as stating I did NOT dislike him... I simply disliked the topics of conversation he and other people had in vent while I was around. Not inappropriate just boring or annoying boy stuff haha).

Go ahead. Laugh. I know you want to. It's okay, really. Everyone else does too. Well actually there's usually this look of confusion (what on Earth is World of Warcraft?!), then surprise (they can't be serious...), then amusement (haha what dorks - Mr. Ticket prefers the nomenclature 'gamers' FYI). I used to be a bit embarrassed of how we met, I would awkwardly tell people we met online and change the subject as fast as possible.

People would often get confused and assume we met via an online dating site. Then I would have to explain to them our meeting looked a lot less like this...

But over time I have come to love our story. It's unique! While there are other couples out there that have met in this manner (I have in fact talked to a few in game) it's pretty rare. We met while enjoying a mutual interest and things slowly blossomed after that. Okay well not THAT slowly. We started talking in September 2007, quickly we found ourselves staying up till 3AM PST (Note the PST because Mr. Ticket was on EST time meaning he would be up till 6AM! And he was going to school and working full time at that point.) talking over vent about anything and everything. I refused to admit that I liked him (I was a stupid girl what can I say) I had recently been burned by another guy and I had no interest in dating someone let alone someone across the country! But apparently I was obvious about how much I liked him to my friends even if it wasn't obvious to me. Some friends frequently pointed out how much I liked him and that us getting together was inevitable. Other friends were mystified by the idea of me meeting a guy online and figured it was just a dumb phase that would pass. Boy did we ever prove them wrong...
